About The Game

Mega Man which was known as Rockman in Japan was developed and released by Capcom in 1987 for the NES/Famicon. Mega Man was the first game in the classic Mega Man game playing series. The flash version above is a nice demo spin off from the series and features good old traditional arcade graphics and quick game play.

There have been a whole boat of sequels to Mega Man and the game has been ported onto the likes of the Playstation, GameCube, Xbox and Playstation 2. A mobile phone version is also available from Capcom Mobile. It's amazing to think what then took a whole games console to run can now fit easily on a mobile phone.

The characters in the original game were Mega Man himself, Dr Albert W. Willy (final boss), Dr. Thomas Light (Good scientist who created and assists Mega Man throughout the game), Roll (Mega Man's sister) and Robot Masters (industrial robots built by Dr Light but taken over and reprogrammed by Dr Willy to perform his bidding).

Again Mega Man was one of a series of successful platform games released back in the late 1980s.

An interesting flaw in the original games is its 2 pause options. One was made as standard, when you press the start button the game pauses with the menu screen. The other unforeseen glitch is when you press the select button and the game pauses and the sound goes silent. If you time this pause correctly when using the Thunder Beam weapon on the boss Mega Man can get double hits off on some of the harder bosses such as the Yellow Devil. If 2 shots hit Yellow Devil in a row he can be killed instantly. This glitch provided gaming fans with a much easier way of killing what would otherwise be some very difficult bosses.

Sequels to the game include Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Mega Man 3 for the PC, Mega Man soccer and Super Adventure Rockman.

Mega Man like many other of the older games was released as an animated TV series in the mid 90's but faded away after 2 series. It seemed mandatory back then to produce a cartoon out of every computer game, even when there was no need.
