Galaxian was brought out in 1979 directly after Space Invaders. The game virtually copied much of Space Invaders game play but introduced some new features such as more colourful graphics and background music. Some of the invaders would also swoop down making a kamikaze dive at your ship adding a further new element in comparison to space invaders.

The original Galaxian game was designed by Namco. Galaxian had 2 sequels, these were Galaga which was also very successful and Galpus which was introduced in 1984 when the craze of Space Invaders had wore off and the 3rd in the series didn't prove no way as successful as its predecessors.
